2012: The mysterious tumblr blog SBARG appeared with the image of the Sburb logo surrounded by horrorterrors and text only reading “24 hours.” After those hours were up, the blog posted the link “==> Begin" leading to another mysterious page showing only a newspaper clip featuring news on oncoming meteors. As more and more people became curious and watched the blog to see what would happen, a few took the "ARG" as a clue and looked into the pages’ code source to find the message: Find a server player. Then we all knew a real game had begun.
SBARG was one of the most memorable tumblr events of fall 2012 and was a collaborative effort of many people led by Alistar, or twistedCaliber. It was in its truest sense an Augmented Reality Game based in the Homestuck lore and called for it’s participants to find clues in actual geographical locations so that all players could enter Sburb and avoid destruction. Once in, everyone was rushed to achive God Tier as fast as possible to avoid and find a way to defeat a mysterious enemy who was stronger than the game code itself.
The game promoted collaborative effort between all players to gain resources by performing good acts for each other or giving to charity, and sparked many artists and writers to enhance everyone’s story to illustrate and elaborate on every player’s personal experience and path and goals throughout the game session. Even battles were only surmountable by hundreds of players hopping on Omegle in search of obstacles hosted by the SBARG team to attack. You were given the choice to attack alone for little damage, or provide a bonus to the next person to find, and everyone’s bonus stacked progressively. Those who encountered each other would break the conversation off with a good luck or role-played their interaction and search with gusto.
For those who remember and experienced the game, no matter how late they arrived, none can forget the excitement and teamwork that sparked many new friendships in the fandom.

2009: John tested out the POGOHAMMER, catapulting himself, an imp, and the nearby POGORIDE off in different directions. Rose deftly maneuvered his bed into a SWEET CATCH for John’s landing. Just as some bigger mobs start appearing, John starts to feel a little tired…

We are very sorry for the inactivity this past year, but both moderators unexpectedly had many many real life responsibilities we couldn’t ignore! Thank you all so much for sticking with our blog for the past couple of years, we don’t want to let you guys down again!
Don’t forget that this blog isn’t just for comic-specific updates, but for Fandom-Related events that were noteworthy in the past. If you know of something HSfandom-related that affected a huge number of us please send an ask, note, or post submission with links to a source so we can showcase it!

2012: Tumblr was introduced to the StartBeta project, where a mysterious password-protected .zip file was available for download with no explanation. Thousands of downloads and several hours of fighting over the legitimacy of the file later, Aussie revealed that it was nether SBURB nor a virus, but a randomly re-uploaded collection of different video game sourcecodes for the duration of the project:

Just a little something to ask all of you since I’ll be doing more of Fandom research from now on:
Do you guys like the “Homestuck Fandom" posts? Are they broad enough to have impacted a majority of the fandom or are some of my past Fandom posts too localized?
I would like more suggestions on adding more Fandom posts, because Homestuck is as much about the readers as it is about the story… and major events in both impact the other side greatly.
The biggest restriction is that events have to have impacted a great chunk of the fandom, either all at once or slowly in waves. These can be sourced to either Tumblr or the MSPA forums (I encourage both!)
I only started making the Fandom posts scarcely after the Dante Basco incident… I would like to do more! Please feel free to send us asks with your thoughts or suggestions, or submit your own fandom event post for us to publish in the future! (I’ll only change it to fit the format of the other OTDIH posts if it needs it)
((obligatory question mark to make this post answerable as well))?

Hussie’s inserted gag in support of the multi-site internet blackout in reaction to SOPA reminded and promted readers to openly discuss what the internet means to us, how we intend to use it, and why we don’t want officials restricting certain freedoms for single countries when the internet actually influences and connects the world.
